ICF Cornwall Ltd was contracted to provide Nudura installation services.  Over 1000 square metres of Nudura was fitted along with the Nudura insert system, designed to boost the performance of the standard block to achieve U values of 0.11.  Detailing around openings was specified to contribute to the building’s air permeability performance.  This project became a massive proving ground for jigs; methods of reducing time by setting up and building patterns.  When you have three shipping containers worth of Nudura inserts, having a way of repeating cuts was a fundamental necessity!

Although most of the building occupied a double height single storey, one section had a first floor composed of a poured concrete deck similar to LewisDeck.  The central area had been designed to be the communal space for the residents and was supplied light through full height glazed entrance way with Nudura lintel over it.  This lintel was formed on the ground, lifted into place, reinforced and poured at the same time as the rest of the gables.  A real triumph.
